To restore your Google Workspace backup data, follow the steps below;

Step 1: Select Backup Job

Go to the Backup tab and Click Google Workspace

  • All the added accounts that are configured with backup jobs will be listed
  • Click the Restore option alongside the respective backup job to start the restoration process.

Step 2: Choose Restore Type

  • Restore Mailbox – Choose this option for granular recovery of the mailbox items such as mails, calendars, contacts, and Google Drive items.
  • Restore Shared Drive – Choose this option for granular recovery of the Shared Drive items such as the files and the folders.

Step 3: Domain Selection (Only for User Mailbox)

In Domain selection, users can select the domain they wish to recover the items from. All the domains you have added will be displayed and you can select any one domain to continue.

Step 4: Restore Version

The restore version is created based on the end time of the backup (i.e the date and time when the backup process scheduled is completed), this is named as Recovery points. The full backup and incremental backup time-stamps are listed with the latest backup version as a parent node and the old backup version further sub-nodes. You can fall back to the required time-stamp whenever needed to recover the backed-up data.

Time Range : You can choose from various time range options and the restore points created in that time range will be listed for you to choose from.

Restore Point: You can select the restore point which you would like to restore.

Step 5: Granular recovery

With this option, users can now granularly select the Google Workspace items to recover.

Choose the mailbox to restore and then choose the restore data.

Restore Entire Mailbox

The entire data from the selected mailbox will be restored. Included Items: Mails, OneDrive, Calendar & Contacts.

Restore Mails

Restore all the Mail Folders or only selected Folder(s)/Mail(s)

Restore Google Drive

Restore the entire OneDrive or only selected folders and files

Restore Calendar Events

Restore the entire calendar or only the selected folder(s) and file(s)

Restore Contacts

Restore the entire contacts or only the selected Folder(s) or File(s)

The search options highlighted in the following reference image helps you to perform search operations based on name, date and time range etc. and it is supported for all the objects except while performing restore for the Entire Mailbox and Calendar Events.

Shared Drive granular recovery selection

Choose the shared drive that you wish to restore in the granular selection.

The search options highlighted in the following reference image helps you to perform search operations based on name, last modified time etc. while performing restore for the Shared Drive.

Step 6: Restore Target

  • Restore to the Same User Mailbox/Shared Drive: This option will restore the backup data to the same user.
  • Restore to the different User Mailbox/Shared Drive: This option will let you select the user from the list and restore the backup data to the selected user.
  • Download as PST (Only User Mailbox)
  • Restore to a different Organization(Only User Mailbox)
  • Restore Description: Enter a restore description for future reference.

Step 7: Review

Review all your selections and click Restore to initiate the process.
